about

A dual piano and dual vocal rearrangement with 2011 updates of the original Beatles song

This was recorded the whole album with a 2 track tape recorder in a piano practice room. In the old days before any sort of multi-tracking everything was recorded live in a room all in one take.

It worked great then and it still works now.

In this day and age where most things are done digitally in protools with all sorts of editing sometimes the art of capturing a live magical performance is lost.

The strive for perfection is killing the very soul of the music.

We are old school all the way. Even when we use technology such as Protools in the studios at CCC or the digital multi-track at my house we do it more for layering than in perfection obsession.

To work as we do takes a skill that is often not around anymore that of being able to play through the song or take solid. Being practiced enough to pull off the vibe we want as opposed to an over rehearsed part.

We have an organic improvisational process of working. We also approach our studio work as a live performance. We play it a little different each time.

The most important thing is to get a good capture be it music photography or any other art.

Personally with these recordings the tape hiss and such adds to its charm. As listening to an old record from the early 20th century or something.
